The first series of events will be 3 lectures sponsored by ACPS in conjunction with the plan to rename TC Williams High School. Our September board meeting will be held virtually this Thursday, September 10th at 7:30 pm via Zoom.  As usual, all are welcome to participate. The information to "attend" the meeting is: To ...Continue Reading

July 18th 2020 EDT

I hope this message finds all of you staying safe and relatively cool during this terrible heatwave. I want to update you on a couple of things that your Seminary Hill Association board has been doing in the past month, and alert you to a couple of city surveys in which you might want to participate. SHA held its first virtual board meeting last month. I think it went well, and it seems likely that will be our platform for upcoming meetings once we resume our monthly meetings in September. Seminary Hill Association June Update

June 2nd 2020 EDT

I hope this message finds you staying healthy during this pandemic, given the physical, economic, and mental health toll it is taking on so many, including those in our Seminary Hill community who have battled the virus. Now the terrible strife across our country as a result of the tragic death of George Floyd during his arrest by Minneapolis police officers has added yet more heaviness to our hearts. This is a very upsetting time for all of us. Both our Sheriff, Dana Lawhorne, and our Chief of Police, Michael Brown, h ...Continue Reading

Seminary Hill Association May Update

May 8th 2020 EDT

I hope this message finds everyone doing well during this stressful time. I know we have lost at least one member of our SHA community to the virus, and I am certain that others have been sickened, though, for obvious privacy reasons, we are not able to learn any information about such cases. This has been a very difficult time for all of us, and I hope that we will be able to start the recovery process before long. But it is sobering to realize that Alexandria has now been declared an official “hot spot” for the virus ...Continue Reading

I wanted to update you on a few things that have been happening in the city. I want to assure you that even though our board has not been able to hold our monthly meetings, we are remaining actively and publicly engaged in matters of importance to the Seminary Hill area. Before I highlight a couple of current issues, I want to let you know that startin ...Continue Reading

Seminary Hill Association April Board Meeting Canceled

March 26th 2020 EDT

I hope this message finds all of you safe and healthy. This is certainly an unsettling time for our families and our community. In addition to trying to keep ourselves and family members healthy, I know many of you are dealing with job and business reversals, and the closure of our schools, which creates educational and child care challenges for parents. All of us are dealing with the impact of social isolation and the disruption of our daily lives on so many levels. Civic association business must take a back seat to ...Continue Reading
