CANCELLATION OF SHA MARCH BOARD MEETING

March 12th 2020 EDT

We have made the decision today to cancel our March SHA meeting scheduled for tonight, Thursday, March 12th.  A number of board members contacted me today indicating they did not feel comfortable attending a meeting at this time, so I felt it would not be worthwhile to hold the meeting tonight.  We will reschedule our speaker, Rod Simmons, to a later date. Seminary Hill Association March Update

There are several important issues coming up in the coming weeks and months, and I want to give you a few key meeting dates in case you want to attend. Our next monthly meeting of the SHA board will be Thursday, March 12th at 7:30 p.m. at Immanuel on the Hill Church at 3606 Seminary Road. Our guest speaker will be Rod Simmons, Natural Resources Manager for the Department of Recreation and Parks. Seminary Hill Association will NOT hold a board meeting in December. Seminary Hill Annual Meeting Reminder and MacArthur School Community Meeting

Seminary Hill Association will hold its Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, November 14th at 7:00 p.m. at Immanuel Church on the Hill Parish Hall at 3606 Seminary Road. Because the location of the meeting has changed from our usual space at the Virginia Theological Seminary, our signs from previous years do not contain the correct location information, so you will not see the signs placed around our neighborhoods as usual. Pentagon Mail Sorting Facility Moving to BRAC at Mark Center

October 30th 2019 EDT

I have just received a call from our City Manager, Mark Jinks.  He informed us that the Pentagon is moving its mail sorting facility from a building currently in the Pentagon parking lot to a new facility at the BRAC building at Mark Center. Mr. Jinks stated that he indicated the city did not want this facility moved to Mark Center, but since the building is a federal facility, the City has no authority to change the decision or to say no. First, a quick reminder of the Seminary Hill Association Annual Meeting on Thursday, November 14th at 7:00 p.m. We will enjoy a social gathering and hear a presentation about the proposed changes to the bus routes in Alexandria.  Our meeting will begin with refreshments at 7:00 p.m., and the presentation on the bus routes will begin at 7:30 pm. First, the Alexandria Transit Vision Plan has just been released. This plan outlines the changes proposed to our city bus routes. Seminary Road Paving, MacArthur School Committee, and SHA Annual Meeting

October 16th 2019 EDT

The milling and repaving of Seminary Road have now begun. The first segment being repaved is from Library Lane to North Howard Street and will be a night paving operation this week between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. The contractors are obviously working under a noise ordinance variance from the city in order to complete the work more quickly. Once weather conditions allow this segment to be completed, the City will begin resurfacing the 2nd segment of Seminary Road, from North Howard to North Quaker Lane. This work ...Continue Reading
